Welcome back to the NOR CAL Report! This week, on a fresh episode of the Report:
The Sharks have won the President's — but face a Mighty foe in a first round playoff matchup that promises to be all-out...
The A's are looking sharp out of the gate, bowing to Seattle but hanging tough against the powerful Red Sox; now the question is, what's more important, talent or experience?
The Giants are in a similar position — but if things keep going downhill for the Unit and the Baby-Faced Assassin, it could be a long, cold summer on the Bay...
The Earthquakes play the season's most exciting game to date, wrestling the Chicago Fire to a draw. They remain undefeated in games they're not shut out — and since you can't win a shutout, they're pretty sure they've got their recipe...
Despite their best efforts, the lads can't avoid talking Kings and Warriors. But, whether you want to blame the coaches or not, the local NBA squads are in too much disarray to be heading up the conversation any time soon.
The chips are down on the ice, and it's hardball season in earnest now. Stay tuned for all the glorious sportage — on The NOR CAL Report!
UP NEXT: A's infielder Nomar Garciaparra joins the lads for some quick hits on life as an MLB legend. The Sharks look to draw first blood against the Ducks, while the young A's and Giants struggle desperately to get that April record into the black.
The NOR CAL Blog:
All the latest info, anecdotes and opinions from the Report's own Jess Zitrin.
If you're among the Shawn Hill haters, it's nice to see the 49ers in some creative-type rumors at the position. (Click also for insightful thoughts about the Raiders' pick at #7.) But, and I'm just thinking aloud here, how many QB's do you stockpile before you go after a legitimate receiving target?
Meanwhile, the Ex thinks the Raiders could go with standout wideout Michael Crabtree...
The A's recent marathon win against the Red Sox might be remembered in October as a key moment. No, not just because it's the Red Sox — but for the breakout of Travis Buck, who needed it, and must be strong for Oakland to contend. (And, considering an extra-inning game must end with a run, 17 2/3 straight scoreless innings by the bullpens is pretty amazing...)
Daisuke now heads for the DL after extended appearances in the World Baseball Classic. A's union rep Brad Ziegler, among others, has a few reasoned suggestions...
No, Kings fans, the Maloof Blasts Martin headline does not signal internal strife — rather, Joe was coming to the aid of a Royal who took a rough spill. But is this as involved as the aloof Maloofs plan to get with this sad sack team?
Bruce Jenkins has been right so far about what the Warriors should do — at least, a lot righter than the Warriors themselves. You heard it here second: for all his scoring prowess, a team with Monta Ellis is a full-time point goes nowhere...
We at The NOR CAL Report never wish anyone ill. But we're not past noticing that a strange pitcher, Mark "The Bird" Fidrych, died strangely, strangled by his own clothes...
There's always more fun ahead, so remember to keep checking us here, on iTunes,
and through your favorite audio aggregator. No matter how you find us,
it's all good — all on The NOR CAL Report!
